Importance of Vaginal pH in Female Health: How to Test and What the Results Mean

What Is Vaginal pH?
pH measures the acidity or alkalinity of vaginal environment. A healthy vaginal pH is 3.8 to 4.5 which is slightly acidic. This environment supports good bacteria
(Lactobacillus) that prevent infections and protect against harmful pathogens
including HPV – which is the causative agent for cervical cancer.

What Causes Vaginal pH Imbalance?
Unprotected sex (semen is alkaline) Menstruation Antibiotics Douching or harsh feminine hygiene products Infections like Bacterial Vaginosis or Trichomoniasis
Hormonal shifts, including menopause HPV infection, which may elevate pH and promote abnormal cervical changes

Why Vaginal pH Matters

Many women experience discomfort like unusual discharge, itching or Odor and often wonder what’s happening. These symptoms are common but what’s less known is that vaginal pH imbalance could be the hidden culprit. This imbalance may lead to chronic infections and may even increase the risk of HPV infections, which are linked to cervical cancer.

How It Feels When You Don’t Know the Cause

If you’re a woman dealing with frequent infections or irritation, you’re not alone. Most women treat symptoms repeatedly without realizing that a slight change in vaginal pH can throw everything off balance. Even more concerning pH imbalance can mask or mimic early signs of HPV related changes, potentially delaying detection of cervical abnormalities.

How We Found the Right Approach

Working closely with gynecologists and lab technicians at Anamol Laboratories, we discovered that monitoring vaginal pH levels is a simple yet powerful tool for maintaining vaginal and cervical health. That’s why we introduced myVagi-Saheli Vaginal pH Test Strips, designed to help women detect pH imbalance before serious infections or complications arise.

How to Use Vaginal pH Test Strip?

Wash your hands thoroughly.

⬇️

Gently insert swab up to 5 cm to collect sample from cervix area.

⬇️

Keep it for 15 seconds

⬇️

Remove the swab and roll on the reaction pad of test strip.

⬇️

Wait for the colour to change (Approx. 1 min)

⬇️

Match with the colour chart on the

Interpreting the Results

Tubes Additives
Below 4.5 Normal vaginal pH – healthy balance
4.5 – 5.0 May indicate vaginal infections
Above 5.0 Possible Trichomoniasis, hormonal changes, or HPV-related cervical issues.

Immediate consultation with gynaecologist is required.

Maintaining a healthy vaginal pH helps support immunity, reduce
infection risk and lowers the chances of HPV persistence that causes
cervical cancer.

Take Charge of Your Intimate Health with myVagi-Saheli At Anamol Laboratories, we believe prevention starts at home. That’s why we created myVagi-Saheli Vaginal pH Test Strips – a simple, non-invasive way to monitor your vaginal health and lower your risk of infections and HPV related complications.
